What does it mean if a ledger is showing as 'retained'?

A ledger shows as 'retained' if transactions are waiting to clear or are future-dated. It can also occur if a pre-booked tenant has paid rent that is not yet payable to the landlord.

The status will change to 'released' once the transaction date is reached or when the tenancy goes live, and the rent becomes payable to the landlord.
