The types of Proof of Address documents you accept will depend on your agency's AML policy. For this reason, we always recommend checking with your Money Laundering Officer (MLO) or referring to your own AML policy before requesting or accepting documents. However, some commonly accepted examples include:
- Utility bill (gas, electricity or water).
- Council Tax bill.
- Bank, building society or credit card statement.
- Mortgage statement.
- HMRC tax notification or correspondence.
- Current UK driving licence
- Tenancy agreement (where appropriate).
- Official correspondence from a UK Government department or local authority.
The document should clearly show the client's full name, current residential address and be dated within 3 months.
